| Review: |
Morgan Stanley is an American bank that is a giant in the world of Investment Banking. Its foray into the direct consumer market in the UK (rather than its traditional business of corporate banking) has seen the introduction of a couple of cards. Unfortunately, while they may be a leading light in Corporate Finance, they certainly are not when it comes to credit cards. The Gold card is an attempt at a low-APR, no-frills card. It offers a standard purchase APR of 12.3%, and throwing in a 6-month 0% offer on balance transfers and purchases. This middle-of-the-road package is pretty plain, and is easily matched by many other cards, such as many of the Accucard-based offerings, Cahoot, Capital One Platinum, Intelligent Finance – the list goes on. This card may have a small niche of city boys that like the Morgan Stanley brand, but most of them are too intelligent to pay a premium for a status card, particularly when the likes of American Express and Diners Club provide a much more prestigious name when it comes to cards. On the flip side, it’s not the worst card out there either. If this card really flicks your switch, then go for it, but there are many more attractive offers on the market. |
