Barclaycard Platinum The Barclaycard Platinum, as one might suspect, is best suited to those with a good credit history. If you meet the application requirements though, an incredibly comprehensive credit card package awaits. So what do you get with the Barclaycard Platinum card? Firstly, you receive the 9 month, 0% introductory rate on balance transfers and purchases. Once the offer period ends, you get a standard APR of 11.9% - not quite the lowest rate on the market, but considering how long you have to wait before you start having to pay it, excellent nonetheless. Factor in all the package benefits, such as the extended warranty and the Nectar rewards programme, and you come to the conclusion that this credit card’s an excellent product. All-in-all, an exceptional performer since Barclaycard gave their range a makeover. The addition of one of the longest 0% offers available in the UK has turned a very good credit card into an outstanding one. A warning, however - this card requires an excellent credit history. A rejected credit card application will have an adverse effect on your credit score, so if you know you have a poor credit history, we suggest you do not just "take a punt" to see if you are accepted - it is likely to affect your applications for more realistic cards. Barclaycard Barclaycard was the first credit card to arrive in the UK, and still remains the most popular. Having suffered a downturn in the number of new applicants in the first couple of years of the new millennium, Barclaycard has carried out extensive promotional campaigns. This is focused around two key themes: firstly, a sponsorship of the Premier League and secondly, an additional range of add-on services under their promotional tag “It just gets better.” Barclaycard must be commended for including an additional years warranty on all goods purchased with any Barclaycard. This applies irrespective of the manufacturer/retailer warranty – if, for example, you have a 3 year warranty with your product, purchasing with a Barclaycard would extend this to 4 years. Barclaycards get an extra star in our overall rating for this alone. |
