Comments and Reviews
Aimed At: Aimed at individuals with a good credit score, who may have some short-term debt.
Review: The Citibank credit card is very middle-of-the-road affair, offering an interest rate of 13.9%, for which you'd usually expect some kind of cashback scheme. Unfortunately it doesn't have one, the only discernable benefit of the card being its six month 0% introductory rate on balance transfers and purchases. However, shop around and you see you can get better rates with the same offer from a host of credit cards, such as the Morgan Stanley Gold Card, and in our opinion, the far superior long term balance transfer rates (and 0% deal on purchases) offered by the Capital One Platinum Credit Card. So why bother with Citibank?

Well, the Citibank current-account products are, in our view, far more interesting than the credit cards. Providing you have an annual income of £30,000 or more, Citibank current-accounts offer a range of benefits, including interest at rates much higher than typical high-street banks. The Citibank current-account also allows you to set up additional accounts in euros and US dollars. This can be very useful if you travel frequently, or if you regularly have to make policy payments in these currencies, as these accounts can dramatically reduce the handling charges that your pay.

Citibank do not have an extensive branch network in the UK, although you can use their ATM cards in most UK cash machines.

Overall, it’s only worth considering the credit card if you are going to be getting the current-account and credit card as a combined package.
