Comments and Reviews
Aimed At: As the card can be tailored by the individual themselves, it is aimed at a wide variety of consumers.
Review: The easyMoney credit card comes from the same group which bought us easyJet, easyInternet cafes and so on. Whereas many products on offer from the easy group are fairly revolutionary for consumers, the easyMoney credit card is not. It presents the common idea of cashback rewards and average interest, or the opportunity to have a lower rate of interest without cashback.

The easyMoney card is offered by Accucard, who also run the Lloyds TSB Create card and the More Th>n credit cards. Compared to the other Accucard-based deals available, easyMoney is not great value, although if you're a fan of the easy group, you may find this a pleasant enough card to carry.

However, the easyMoney card loses marks for its website design. Having perused the site while collating information, I soon realised that the only way to look at different interest rates available online, was to complete the application form, thus locking you into the card. As all the other Accucard-based cards let you work out your options pre-application, I feel the competition offer more transparency of information on their respective sites. Having spoken to easyMoney, the company’s response is that all applications are subject to an Equifax credit check, upon which a customisation page allows them to view the varying figures based on their particular credit score (this is known as credit risk pricing). However, most competing card issuers use credit risk pricing, yet are prepared to give "ball-park" figures for consumers to work with.

Overall though, as with all the Accucard based deals, it really doesn’t provide the consumer with any specific strengths, such as an exceptionally low APR or great rewards scheme. Instead, this attempt to combine several key features into one package, leaves the card falling short in all criteria when judged individually. If you want a low APR, look for a specific low-APR card like Capital One Platinum. If you want cashback, look at a cashback specific card like Amex Blue. When it comes to the crucial factors (with the possible exception of choosing maximum cashback), it’s hard to recommend the easyMoney card.
