Customer Service Standards
Although this may not initially be a high priority for those considering a
credit card, the levels of customer service vary greatly from one credit card
issuer to another.
This may be more of an issue if, for example, you like to
regularly check your balance. However, there have been numerous instances when
individuals have opted for a great headline rate of interest on a credit card, but
found a sequence of adminstration and service problems that have affected their
experience with their credit card usage.
We know of people, for example, that have had delays with their balance transfer requests,
others that have had to wait months for a new credit card to arrive, and of
course, people that have been kept waiting on the end of a phone line for over
an hour before someone in a call centre speaks to them.
You may therefore wish to consider the following customer service
issues:
- Online Services - View your
transactions and account details on the internet.
- Call Centres - Opening hours, call
costs and service levels.
- Branch Support - Using a local
branch to service your credit card.
